Greenwood Cemetery
The Greenwood Cemetery is 478 acres of hills, valleys, and glacier ponds located in Brooklyn, New York. One of the very first rural cemeteries in America, this National Historic Landmark was established in 1838. In addition to being a Revolutionary War historic site, it contains the largest collection of 19th and 20th C. outdoor statuary and mausoleums.
This spectacular site's popularity inspired the founding of other public parks, including Prospect Park and Manhattan's Central Park.
