The American Elm tree is native to the Eastern United States and Canada. The Elm tree was once one of the most common street trees in the U.S. In the 1930s, Dutch Elm disease was introduced by a shipment of logs coming from Europe and quickly spread throughout the U.S, decimating the population of American Elm trees.
