"The Bur Oak in Millersville was planted in the Early eighteen-hundreds when an addition was put on the original 1700's house. It was customary to plant a shade tree on the south west corner of a house to shade the home and keep it cooler in summer. The Bur Oak was first described in 1816, making it just over 200 years old.” Written by Scott Wade of Pennsylvania Big Trees.
