This former champion tree was known as the Town of Montgomery Sycamore and was cared for and pruned by the town. In the early 1900's the property owner, William Hart, a well-known flower farmer, named his farm Sycamore Place after this tree. Before that in 1843, a heavy chain was strung between the two main tree branches attaching them and slowly growing into the tree. No one knows exactly how old this sycamore is however, records show that it could have been around for at least 300 years.
