I have visited this Oak twice over the last five months. In that time, I have seen a massive decline in its health and the branches snapping; an unfortunate example of why the Gathering Growth Foundation is documenting these trees. If it declines much more, a tree service will most likely be called in to take it down and it might never have been documented. This massive White Oak is on the historic Vesper Cliff Estate located in the town of Owego, NY. At one time believed to be the largest White Oak in New York, but of course, just a false rumor, as just a recent discovery of the Glenmary Oak being down the road is over one foot larger in circumference.
